You should contact us if you have any of the following issues:
Clogging
The biggest issue people tend to have with their pumps and lift stations is clogging. People often flush items that simply cannot pass through pipes, such as wipes. Even wipes that are marketed as “flushable” should not be flushed. We have extensive experience removing numerous items from various pumps in order to unclog the system. If you’re stuck, call us.
Reduced Flow Output
Reduced flow output could be a sign of clogging, though it also can be due to other malfunctions. A number of factors could be the culprit, such as:
- Cavitation, which can be caused by the formation of bubbles or fluid cavities, which can create a pressure imbalance in your pump. Over time, this imbalance can cause damage to the internal structure if it’s not taken care of.
- Valve leaks, which can be caused by poor sealing or damage to the valve structure.
- A malfunctioning pressure control switch. Your pressure control switch plays an important role in regulating pipe flow. It may not register correctly if it is clogged, has coupling problems, or other mechanical issues.
Signs of Structural Damage
Cracks in your pump housing and other signs of damage should be evaluated right away. They could spread and compromise the integrity of the entire structure if they are not repaired. If you notice parts of your pump deteriorating, you should get it looked at right away.
High Water Alarms
Your water alarm warns you that something is wrong before your pump or lift station completely floods its surrounding area. For this reason, it is important that your alarm is fully functioning. If your high water alarm sounds, then you need to have an expert examine your system immediately to prevent further damage to both your pump and your property.
Motor Performance Problems
Your motor is your lift station’s driving force. A number of problems can impede its performance and stop your pump from working properly, such as:
- A blown capacitor
- A motor breaker that needs to be reset
- A timer that isn’t set properly
Since there are so many different possible causes, motor problems are difficult to diagnose. This is why your pump station should be inspected by one of our trained technicians.
